Swimfit Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Answers to some of the frequently asked questions we get at Swimfit.

We get asked a lot of questions at Swimfit so we compiled the most frequently asked together. You can find these below.

How fit do I need to be?
The great thing about Swimfit is you can start your session at a level to suit you. The cards offer complete flexibility with lengths starting at 10 progressing to 120. So whether you want to get back in the pool after years away, aspire to swim faster, further or for longer, or simply want more structure to your time in the pool, there will be a starting point to suit you.

What do I need to bring?
Any swimwear which you feel comfortable in, goggles and a water bottle – your swimming pool should have everything else you will need.

How often should I do Swimfit?
For best results, try and do a session either on your own or with an instructor two or three times a week.

Do I need to be a good Swimmer?
Swimfit is not a learn to swim programme therefore you need to have some swimming ability to get the most out of your session. However, sessions are flexible with the varying number of cards, strokes, techniques and support of the Activator therefore it can be adaptable.

If you are unsure, ask your Swimfit Activator. If you are looking for adult learn to swim lessons, look for a pool near you that offers ASA lessons with PoolFinder here.

Where do I find my nearest pool?
In order to find your nearest pool that runs Swimfit please use the poolfinder to search for your nearest pool here. Swimfit is in over 500 pools and there will be a Swimfit pool near you.

What if my pool doesn’t run Swimfit?
If Swimfit isn’t in your pool then let your pool know and let us know by emailing us at swimfit@swimming.org providing us with information on your pool.

If neither the information on the site nor the Swimfit FAQs above answer your question, feel free to email us at swimfit@swimming.org.
